LS-05 · Critical evidence+3 pts potential

The homepage publishes no LocalBusiness structured data, so search engines have to infer that this is a physical business.

evidence: no JSON-LD types found

Sample report of a test fixture site, produced by the real scoring engine. Not a customer.

Deterministic diagnostic pipeline

From a website address to captured evidence, without changing a line of your code.

No guesswork and no language model inventing a score. Every finding comes from a fixed check run against what your pages actually return.

  1. Stage 01

    Enter your website

Give the business name, city, type and website. The address is validated and checked against private and reserved networks before anything is fetched.

    > input name · city · type · url
    > target normalised to its origin
    > guard private addresses refused
  2. Stage 02

    Bounded public crawl

The scanner reads the homepage, robots.txt and the sitemap, follows internal links to key pages such as contact, about and services, and probes for a 404 page — up to 8 pages within a 45-second budget.

    > pages up to 8
    > budget 45 s
    > probes robots.txt · sitemap · 404
  3. Stage 03

    Review the report and act

76 scored checks run against the captured pages. Each finding records what was found, why it matters and how to fix it, ranked so the most valuable fixes come first.

What we check

Six categories, fully weighted.

Your website is scored in six independent categories. The overall score is their weighted sum — and when a category cannot be assessed, its weight is shared out across the rest.

Overall score = Σ (category score × weight)

  • 15% of total11 scored checks

    Website Basics

Whether the site is secure and dependable: HTTPS and its redirect, host canonicalisation, server response time, page weight, mixed content, the mobile viewport and a working 404 page.

    Highest-weighted checksWB-01 … WB-11

    • • HTTPS enabled
    • • Mobile viewport meta
    • • No mixed content
  • Highest weight
    22% of total

    SEO

Whether search engines can understand each page: titles and descriptions, one meaningful H1 and a clean heading outline, canonical URLs, social preview tags, internal links and content depth.

    15 scored checksSEO-01 … SEO-15

    • • Title tag present
    • • Meta description present
    • • Exactly one H1
  • 18% of total14 scored checks

    Technical SEO

The plumbing crawlers depend on: robots.txt and the XML sitemap, indexability, structured data, the lang attribute, compression and caching, security headers and broken internal links.

    Highest-weighted checksTS-01 … TS-14

    • • Page is indexable
    • • robots.txt doesn't block the site
    • • XML sitemap exists
  • 20% of total14 scored checks

    Local SEO

Whether the site states it is a local business: business name, phone and street address, LocalBusiness schema and its completeness, opening hours, a map and a contact page, and consistent NAP details.

    Highest-weighted checksLS-01 … LS-14

    • • LocalBusiness schema
    • • Phone number published
    • • Street address published
  • 15% of total12 scored checks

    Conversion

Whether a visitor can act: click-to-call, a contact form or email, a clear call to action above the fold, contact details in the header and footer, booking paths, trust signals and analytics.

    Highest-weighted checksCV-01 … CV-12

    • • Click-to-call link
    • • Contact form or email
    • • Above-the-fold CTA
  • 10% of total10 scored checks

    Accessibility

Automated accessibility basics: the page language, image alt text, labelled inputs, discernible links and buttons, zoom left enabled, landmarks, heading order, captions and table headers.

    Highest-weighted checksAC-01 … AC-10

    • • Image alt coverage
    • • Labelled form inputs
    • • Discernible link text

Anatomy of a finding

A Presence Report shows its evidence, not an opinion.

A bare percentage tells you nothing to do. Every PresenceScope finding names the rule that produced it, what was found on your pages, why it matters and how to fix it.

How to fix it

Add a JSON-LD block to the homepage with an @type of LocalBusiness — or the closest subtype, such as Bakery, Plumber or Dentist — carrying your name, address, telephone and url. Most content management systems have a plugin that generates it from settings you already filled in.

Why it matters

LocalBusiness structured data is how a site states, in a form a machine can read, that it represents a physical business with an address, a phone number and opening hours. It is the difference between being eligible for map results and rich listings, and being treated as an ordinary web page that happens to mention a city.

Method & transparency

How the score is built, and what it does not claim.

A score is only useful if you know its limits. These are the rules PresenceScope holds itself to, and the boundaries it states openly.

What the score is

  1. 01

    Deterministic scoring

The score is a pure function of the captured evidence: the same pages under the same ruleset version always produce the same score.

  2. 02

    Published weights

Every category weight is fixed and shown above (15%, 22%, 18%, 20%, 15%, 10%). No hidden adjustments.

  3. 03

    Evidence on every finding

Each deduction is tied to what the check found — a header, an element, a count, a timing or a missing item.

  4. 04

    Versioned rulesets

Every scan records the ruleset that scored it (currently 1.0.0), so a score stays explainable when the rules change.

What it does not claim

  1. 01

    Static HTML only

Pages are read as the server sends them; JavaScript is not executed. Sites that only render in the browser are flagged rather than guessed at.

  2. 02

A bounded crawl, not an exhaustive one

Up to 8 pages within a 45-second budget. Larger sites are judged on their key public pages.

  3. 03

    Automated accessibility is partial

Automated checks cover roughly 30–40% of WCAG success criteria. A passing score is not a conformance statement.

  4. 04

    Response time in tiers

Server response time is scored in tiers — under 800 ms, under 2000 ms, slower — rather than as an exact number, because single measurements fluctuate.
